The various programs offered by Creative Cloud are indispensable and powerful tools for a designer. However, we often make the mistake of habitually fleshing out all our ideas on screen. Sometimes, the best way to get our creative juices flowing is with a simple pen. Here are 5 illustrators who utilize their mastery of traditional line work to produce whimsical pieces:

Elliana Esquivel is an illustrator based in Charlotte, NC. She finds inspiration from her own experiences, and translates her inner turmoil into relatable pieces. Her delicate lines are often accompanied by a splash of color or a single phrase. She uses these elements sparingly, and instead, lets her work speak for itself.

Felicia Chiao is an industrial designer at IDEO in San Francisco, CA. She enjoys filling her Moleskine journals with intricate patterns, surreal creatures, and bold colors. She typically documents her work in progress, from its inception as a pencil sketch, to its final form in all its saturated glory. She is particular to sepia colored paper, and the warm accents envelope her pieces in a golden glow.
